Spring 2011
(April and May)

Spring came a little later than we'd hoped--but it was worth the wait. Springtime in Boston this year was absolutely glorious. (Spring and Fall are our great rewards for surviving the winter, frankly speaking.)

Perhaps it was because we were so excited to come out from hibernation, we really tackled the Spring with gusto. We acquired our newest family member (a van), the boys renewed their commitment to backyard camping, we continued our love affair with the Museum of Science, and Blake went on his first Fathers and Sons camp-out with Joe and Ian.

In May, we hosted the five boys of some great friends and experienced what life would be like with seven sons (!!). Ian has probably never had so much fun in his life! We also celebrated Jen's grandfather's 80th birthday with a weekend in Maine (which had thawed by that time, thank goodness).

Blake has made some really fantastic progress with his wonderful physical therapist who comes once a week. He's a boy who has certainly embraced his gross-motor delay. He was born with a fierce sense of stubbornness determination, which is definitely a curse blessing in this regard. It was this Spring, also, that he started swimming lessons and decided it was time to talk....and there's [happily] no turning back!!

Ian finished up his year of at-home preschool and started looking forward to kindergarten. What a wonder of a boy! We think he was also rather excited about the warming of the weather and spent a good chunk of every.single.day outside. (Living on a cul de sac = 5 year-old heaven.)
