Since Mud Season was moved up to the winter time this year, our Massachusetts spring was glorious once again. We were able to get outside to play regularly starting at the end of March, which is a small miracle in itself.
Joe was able to hike Mount Monadnock in May--something he's been wanting to do since we relocated to Boston nearly six years ago. Also of note for him was his first time doing a complete brake overhaul on our cars (replacing the rotors and drums in addition to his usual gig replacing the pads). And while we're speaking of car-related things, he deftly replaced shocks, struts, and a wheel bearing on our Corolla....all after 11 o'clock at night...by himself. (It is the most convenient time, he always explains.)
In a lip-quivering moment for his parents, Ian finished kindergarten and began his first summer vacation. (But only after becoming a National Parks Service Junior Ranger on a family visit to Philadelphia.)
As many second children probably know, Blake spent much of the spring tagging along to various and sundry events. He was a good sport about it, and often found himself rewarded with animal crackers and goldfish. Sooooo....win-win?
As a family, we were able to spend a week in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia while Joe had a conference in the Virginia suburbs. We were able to convince Grammy and Aunt Nat to tag along with us--and not only were they a TREMENDOUS help, but were [more importantly] excellent and fun traveling companions.
(We'll also note here that we found out in June that we were expecting baby #3. HOORAY!)
